The average American moves about 12 times during their life. When you make a big move into your very first home, you will likely remain there for decades. But until then, you’ll likely be renting apartments — and that’s okay. Whether you’re renting furnished apartments or are living in a townhouse, there are plenty of tips and tricks to enjoy your living space.
Here are some great tips for better apartment living:
- Find the perfect spot — The most important aspect of living in a great place is the actual apartment you’re renting. You could have a place to live in a great city, but if you’re not in love with the apartment, you’re never going to enjoy yourself. Renting furnished apartments is a great place to start because you don’t have to worry about living in a broken-down space.
- Build a relationship with your landlord — If your landlord likes you, your time in that apartment will be a lot more enjoyable. Start by introducing yourself and, most importantly, make all your payments on time. If you prove yourself to be a reliable tenant, your landlord might let you pass on some late payments down the line.
- Find a roommate you’re comfortable with — If you’re living with roommates, you need to make sure you all get along to avoid issues down the road. Make sure you go over tasks that need to be completed each week like general cleanup and maintenance and then stay on top of everything.
- Handle any neighbor issues right away — If you have noisy neighbors next door, it’s best to address it right away before it gets any worse. Try politely talking to them first, but if it continues you should notify your landlord. Your landlord will likely appreciate you letting them know and hopefully address it from there.
Apartment living can be stressful if you’re not taking it seriously. But if you find a great spot and are a responsible tenant, you should have a great time. If you’re thinking about renting furnished apartments and plan on moving in the near future, check out Meadow Creek!
